This website is dedicated to bad realtors! While not all realtors are considered bad, I do think realtors are over paid!
For example: Realtor commissions, on a 400,000 house ( this is what they cost in the area I live in many houses go for much higher in South East Portland zip code 97214). The commission structure when broken down looks like this

That’s right $20,000 to $28,000 for selling your house, that’s quite a bit of money! Think of what the realtors actually do for you?

What Happened
Jennifer is the most dis-loyal, least honest real estate, or business person for that matter, that we have ever dealt with. She profiles and discriminates by race AND religion (our view). She will lie to your face, and then tell a story about you that is 100% FALSE when things don't go her way. She puts on a very slick act - but beware, that's all it is!!! STAY AWAY!! ps - while showing houses, she claimed to have job offers from three other brokers in the area because of her "value" - how cheesy.
I agree - we had a similar exp! The worst part was when she mentioned a religious group and said "she hates dealing with THEM - because their so cheap" - can you believe that?!?! We switched R/E compa

What Happened
During our house search, we decided to purchase a home in an different suburb than Plainfield. Our realtor was very inconvienced by our decision. She knew we were on a time crunch, yet didn't want to let us out of our contract with her. She showed us the house once. Arranged for someone else to show us the second time. Attanged for someone else to come to the final inspection. And didn't show up to the closing which we scheduled around her and the lawyer she recommended. The lawyer only showed up at the closing to collect the checks after the title company had assumed his role. It was a very disappointing experience. When we called her for helping because the owners didn't have keys or garage door openers for us and left the house in a mess, she offered to pay for cleaners. But we never heard from her again.

What Happened
This happend May 2008
Liz, had a couple of buyers that were looking for a duplex, and had been outbid on a couple of other duplexes.
I happen to have a duplex, so she asked around her office if anyone had any pocket listings, for a duplex and Charles Ramsey my realtor at the time, thought about me as a potential seller. So my duplex is not listed for sale, and Liz and Charles wanted to come over and present me with an offer for my building.
The offer was week in that the down payment was not 10% percent of the sale price ( this is why the housing bubble happened people buying houses they can't afford! ).
Here is the gotcha! The realtors wanted a 5% commission! I told them not a chance was I going to give them each well over 10k! I offered to pay either a flat commission or 2% which would have been about 4k each! Liz told me that she felt it was immoral to her clients to turn a deal down if she isn't getting a certain commission, yet she had to have 2.5% again this would have been over 10k!
Liz is like many realtors trying to make the most amount of money for the least amount of work! I wouldn't use Liz as a realtor as she is driven by getting her commission!
Needless to say we were never able to come to terms on a deal due to the high commission cost they were asking for!
Liz Lynn, I don't think your a bad person just that you have an over exaggerated since of self worth for demanding such a high commission for such little work! Oh yeah the couple that were actually making the offer, were selling a house that Liz was getting a commission from too!
